The mountain shaded the dam. I walked around in the blue light of the dam. I was in Colorado. The river was down the steep incline off the road. It was time for school. Papers were flying everywhere.

I looked around. The sun was so bright. The desert seemed to go on forever. I was standing in the desert and someone was telling me about the plane ride we were about to take. I was on assignment and I needed to compare two beaches, one in Miami and one in Mexico.

I looked down in the brown sand and I remembered giving a speech, through the body of a little girl. I told them that the beach in Florida was the kind of you get stranded on, while the one in Mexico is great. Perfect. Anyway, it's time for my next assignment.

I'm in the desert. What a realization. There was very little vegetation. The guy seemed to be a colleague. I was sorry to see him go. He was talking about taking a really weird airline to wherever he would go to next.

So we decided to take his horse and ride across the desert. The horse was very slow. As we continued through the hot desert, once in a while a fast rider would zip passed us on his horse.

Suddenly we came across a huge lake. "Is this the lake we've been looking for?" I asked.

The closer we got, the less real it became. It was fading away. It was a mirage. It was a huge empty swimming pool. In the middle of the desert.

"Fuck, it's a mirage." I turned on one of the water taps and what seemed to be pure water came forth. It was so strange.

My partner was looking around the empty pool and he found a secret entrance. I followed him in. We entered the weird underground hidden place. It was so strange.

The underground world looked constructed by man. It was lit with small lights. It felt very blue. There was what I found to be a very beautiful girl there. I immediately took a liking to her and she began showing us around.

I told her that we would have most assuredly died in the desert had we not found this place.

The underground tunnels seemed to wind around for ever. There were so many doors. My guide told me many people held conferences here. She told me to be careful not to walk in on one.

I mentioned, "But we're out in the middle of the Nevada desert."

"That's the point." She replied.

I looked in one of the doors. People were taking steam baths and relaxing and I suddenly forgot the hot desert I was just in.

She opened one of the doors and a small beanbag flew at her, just barely missing her. "They're just kidding around." She said, embarrassed slightly.

I was kind of tripped out that I was in an underground convention hall in the middle of the desert disguised as a fucking swimming pool, but I continued on.

We ended up in a huge conference hall. Someone threw a beanbag at me. So I threw it back. It seemed to be a game. There was a rule... I was supposed to aim for these little structures. If I hit them I got points. A small scale beanbag war seemed to emerge from the engagement.

I remember sitting in one of the folding chairs and looking into the room next to me as we threw these beanbags at each other. I wanted to win. But I kept thinking about the girl.

She was gone.

I’d lost her somehow.
