We kept walking along the dirt road towards the houses. They were still being constructed. None of them were complete. My companion for this walk was a bad kid, like Nathan...

Construction all around. We got closer to a huge house, where they were putting in plastic flaps in place of the windows. He was worried that he would get in trouble for breaking the windows, but I assured him that there were no windows to break.

We ended up at a gas station, and this old truck drove in. All the people in it seemed familiar.. And they sat with us for a while.

They guy wanted to smoke pot I think, and I told him about my theory on emptying out a cigarette to fill it up with pot. He said he'd tried but failed, I told him to let it sit in the dash of his car for a day, to let it dry. The truck started driving away, and I realized none of them said goodbye. They weren't friends at all. They just left. Disappeared.

But I kept their fork.
