"This is one of my more cinematic dreams. It's definitely one of my favorite memories. This dream needs to be told on another canvas to truly get across the feel... and it will be told on another canvas." David Mulhern

The adventure began at the island. I could see it through the huge glass windows. I was sitting at a table in a giant circular floating restaurant in Holland in a valley that no one seemed to know about. I was watching the sun as it was setting behind the green mountains on the island. It was so beautiful. Below was water.

I followed the water line with my eyes. On the bank of the island were small strange buildings. I walked through the circular restaurant and I looked out the window again. The sun caught the island in a way which made on the buildings light up. It was amazing. It was shimmering and it almost looked see-through. I thought I was looking at heaven.

I turned and spoke to one of the guys standing sitting by the window, eating.

"That building almost looks like heaven..." I said. "I swear it, it almost looks like heaven!"

He mentioned that if we took the opacity down a bit, I would. This seemed a bit strange because I knew you can't manipulate the world that easily. I knew I would have to go in. I looked at the front door of the building and noticed what seemed like the face of what would represent Satan on it. A large horn was sticking out. It was a unicorn horns. I mentioned to the guy that if this was heaven, it sure as hell wasn't the one they're teaching kids about in Sunday school.

When we reached the door, it opened with almost no problems. Right behind the door was a long dark tunnel that wrapped around the left. We went right. And we ran upstairs... I looked around. It was dark everywhere. There were vaulted ceilings and the light peeked in through the cracks and the dusty windows. I knew no-one had ever been here, except for the people who built it thousands of years before.

All I could think about was exploring the tunnels below.

My companion was a girl. Someone I only knew in this dream. I knew her very well it seemed.

We entered the tunnels. I could tell that she had a goal, I couldn't tell what it was. I knew knew I didn't have one. I walked in front.

The first obstacle we hit was thousands and thousands of rats. I remember standing there, waiting for them to hit run us over. It was terrible but I stood there and they ran over us. The thing I remember most was their tails. Dark, brown and shiny. They were so shiny. I joked to my companion that she should like their tails for good luck. She didn't laugh.

We continued through  the tunnels, running past the rats, when we hit a dead end. And in it was a wall and floor covered in snakes. Millions it seemed. God, this was real, and I had to make a decision. I dove in, and searched underneath them for a door, or a way out. It seemed like there wasn't one, but she found one to the left.

We fell into a huge room. It was so long and bare. It seemed to go on forever. The rows of fluorescent lights above us created a stark contrast to the dark tunnels we had been running through. At the end of the room was a person. The person seemed so small, so distant. I thought about how strange it was, after battling snakes and rats and other things, to suddenly feel the peace of this room.

The girl next to me spoke to the person.. "Who are you?"

A rat ran across the room. It belonged to the person. The figure walked through another door and disappeared. We followed.

There was a huge room, a warehouse it felt like, with a handful of others inside. It was dark here. My companion tried talking to them, but I couldn’t stand it.

I yelled: "Who the fuck are you! Do you realize what's going on!" They all stared at me blankly, confused.

I stood at one end of the warehouse. "Do you realize there is enough rats out there to fill this fucking wherehouse!?" I held out my hands. They just looked at me. "I swear to god!" I yelled, louder.. "I swear to god!!" They seemed to believe me.

One of the men in there mentioned a name, and he said it was him that did it. They mentioned that they were not aware of their situation, and this was definitely news to them.

He also mentioned that there was a way out. We walked towards these beautiful crimson curtains. He said, he thought it was a way out.

I could see the light of day peeking through the crack down the middle of the blood red curtains as they swayed with the light breeze probably brought on by some internal air conditioning. He pulled the curtains back. The mountains. The blue sky. The cement. The world. We were free. There were bars on the door, but we were so close, we knew we were free. It was an overwhelming feeling.

We were free.
