"Always, my heart racing at first, fear, hard to go back to sleep. I've tried to dream myself back into place, to finish the dream but it never works." Tawny Brown

I am walking home from somewhere. It feels like leaving work. It is very dark, late, and there are no cars on the street. I don't recognize the street. Its a big city, and I live in a small town.

There is someone walking behind me a good distance. I can hear his footsteps on the concrete sidewalk. He has on a long overcoat. He isn't trying to hide. He seems very self confident and not afraid.

He keeps getting closer, and no matter how fast I walk, he keeps gaining on me. I can't run for some reason. I can only walk. I'm scared. There are no doors anywhere for me to bang on. The doors and windows of all the buildings suddenly disappear and there is only me and him on this street.

I finally round a corner and think I've lost him, I sigh with relief as I see street lights and hear people about half a block ahead.

Then, he's there, very suddenly. He reaches out from behind and lays his hand on my shoulder. I start to scream, and that's when I wake up.
